About Transfiguration Academy

Education is a long day’s journey into light;
Christian education is the beginning of the Beatific Vision
for in the words of Jesus Christ
“This is eternal life, that they may know”

“And so the purpose of Catholic education is to communicate Christ to you,
 so that your attitude toward others will be that of Christ”
                                                                                       - Pope John Paul II

     Transfiguration Academy represents a new model for Catholic school education which we believe will lead the way in academic excellence in the 21st Century.  Co-sponsored by the parishes of St. Mary’s, Dumont, St. John’s, Bergenfield and Ascension, New Milford, the Academy not only offers the best from the heritage schools, but offers an enhanced curriculum, extra-curricular activities and a new organizational structure.  Through these enhancements we will attract more students at all grade levels, Pre-K 3 through the 8th Grade.  In order to achieve this objective, we have enhanced the curriculum in the lower school, Pre-K3 to grade 4, at our Bergenfield campus and established a superior Middle School, at our New Milford location, for grades 5 through 8.

     The name Transfiguration Academy, which is representative of Our Lord’s transformation, was chosen to symbolize that we are taking the lead in transforming the face of Catholic School education and fulfilling our mission to teach as Christ taught.

     Transfiguration Academy is committed to serve the youth of Bergen County in an educational ministry, rooted in the message and ministry of Jesus Christ and His Church.

                                  The Transfiguration Academy Community

     Pastors, Administration, Faculty, Parents and Students share the responsibility for building a strong faith community, for developing positive leadership and for providing a quality educational program for our students.

     The Faculty recognizes, appreciates and responds to the diversity of individual and communal needs among our students by creating a supportive atmosphere, a disciplined environment and high academic standards for all students.

     The Parents and Students work to create a partnership between home and school.  Through open communication and interaction our faith community becomes aware, respectful and accepting of differing cultures.

     The educational mission of Transfiguration Academy endeavors to meet the challenges and changes of a modern, technological society in the 21st century.
