Transfiguration Academy has a Pre-K program for both three and four year olds, which is offered in morning, afternoon or full day sessions. The program is designed to provide a positive early learning experience for children ages 3 and 4. This program strives to develop basic knowledge and skills in religion, reading, language arts, math, writing, technology, art, physical education and music. Seasonal parties, in school “field trips”, special programs, and “reading buddy” activities with older students enhance the Pre-K experience. Our program is structured to help children grow spiritually, socially, emotionally, and academically in a loving atmosphere.
Using the school's curriculum as a guide, the staff endeavors to:
- Help each child develop according to his/her own capacities and at their own rate of progress.
- Develop each child's natural curiosity.
- Provide a relaxed, friendly atmosphere where each child can explore, share, play and communicate with children their own age.
- Develop motor skills by providing activities that will develop each child's own large and small muscle coordination, which will build the child's self-confidence.
- Develop language skills to identify, associate, perceive, and understand.
It is our firm belief and responsibility to make this school experience a positive one, one that will lead to independence, fulfillment, and satisfaction throughout the child's life.

Computer Program
Transfiguration Academy's State-of-the-Art Computer Lab
Transfiguration Academy endeavors to acquire the latest technology, even as the ever-growing field remains in constant change. We support instruction on all levels from Pre-K through Grade 8. We provide both formal computer instructions in our computer lab, as well as utilizing computers in the classroom. The lab students receive age appropriate lessons in productivity software; primarily Microsoft Office (Word, EXCEL, PowerPoint) and graphics applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Desktop Publishing, web design, digital cameras, and scanners. In the classroom the teachers are encouraged to infuse their daily instruction with computers to both reinforce and enrich their lessons.
Our air-conditioned lab is equipped with: 2 network servers, 27 Pentium III and higher computers; A high-speed networked laser printer; Flatbed scanner; nine Digital cameras, and an InFocus Multimedia projector for large screen projection from a computer work station. In addition to a wide range of installed and CD based educational software, each workstation is linked to the Internet through a high-speed, broadband DSL connection. Filtering out of inappropriate materials is handled by highly effective SonicWall hardware. Additionally, after school enrichment classes are conducted in Computer Robotics, programming and Digital Imaging.
All classrooms will soon join our lab, library and administrative offices, in being network and Internet capable. While most classrooms are Internet/network connected via our wired and wireless network, we expect all classes to be connected before this school year is out. To extend and integrate technology into the students' daily academic experience, individual classrooms each contain several computers. Grades 7 and 8 have 4 computers per classroom, while grades K through 6 have a minimum of 2-3 computers per class.
Transfiguration Academy has recently joined the American Weather Service (AWS) system by installing a fully operational weather station on our grounds. Data from our station is gathered on a twenty-four hour basis and transmitted via Internet to the national AWS system. This real-time weather data, specifically for Bergenfield, can be accessed from the AWS web site.
Our school adheres to the ISTE (International Society for Technology Education) Standards for Technology Literacy for Students as well as the ISTE Standards For Teachers and Administrators. In order to assure continual integration of technology into the curriculum, staff members are encouraged to pursue new technologies, by attending seminars, conferences and on-line instruction.
