Strengthening faith, Enlightening minds, Transforming hearts… One student at a time.
There’s no one in the world quite like your child. A bright smile, a tender heart, an inquisitive mind — all combined in the most remarkable person you’ve ever known. At Transfiguration Academy of the Archdiocese of Newark, we recognize that each child is a precious gift from God. Like snowflakes, no two children are exactly alike—and no two children learn in exactly the same way. Our programs are designed for those who learn as fast as they can or to take as much time as they need. Attention to learning style is the difference! The Academy offers a challenging academic curriculum that is rich in religious formation and the moral values your child will need to succeed in life. With low teacher-student ratios and plenty of personal attention, our Academy creates a safe and encouraging environment that challenges bright minds to explore their interests and discover the best in themselves, their classmates and the world.
Discover excellence at Transfiguration Academy!
At the very foundation of the education we offer is a dedication to excellence. That’s why our students consistently score higher on nationally standardized testing than public or charter school counterparts. They have gone on to succeed at academic competitions and at least 97% of our graduates eventually go on to attend college after studying at some of the area’s finest private high schools. We offer a positive, encouraging and safe environment where children can grow in body, mind and spirit. From our Pre-K program, designed for three- and four-year-olds through our K–8 programs, our caring, qualified teachers provide a strong, academic foundation —over 97% of Catholic school graduates advance to college. The Academy is fortunate to have students participate in local and regional enrichment activities ranging from the Academic Olympics and Science Fair to the Congressional Youth Leadership Council. These academic activities serve to deepen both student motivation and potential. To nurture the spiritual dimension of our students, class Masses are held monthly and our eighth graders participate in a retreat program to deepen their prayer experiences and sharing of faith. The Academy sponsors a hot lunch program ensuring that all our students receive nutritious meals at reasonable cost. Transfiguration Academy emphasizes the total formation of each student. Development of character and self-discipline are strong pillars of our program. Our students are fortunate to explore childhood and adolescent issues through an accredited counseling program. Our students engage in an educational program that encourages students to take informed positions on issues, be courageous in expressing their convictions and religious values, and to be guided by their Catholic faith. Since we prize the individuality of the student, we offer advanced classes and technology integration throughout the curriculum. Field trips complement the learning process. Transfiguration Academy is the start of a smart investment in your child’s future. To help families manage tuition, we offer flexible payment programs. This faith-based education is well worth the cost. Then again, so are your children. Transfiguration Academy is accredited by the Commission on Elementary Schools of the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges, and is co-sponsored by the parish communities of Saint John the Evangelist, Bergenfield; Saint Mary in Dumont; and Ascension, New Milford.
