New Beginnings
New Beginnings It is always with mixed emotions that we say good-bye to retiring faculty and to those who have moved on. We are sad to see them go, yet happy for them and wish them the best in their retirement or new positions. So it was last year when Mr. and Mrs. Benson announced their retirement, Mr. Ferriero accepted a principal's position in Minnesota, and Ms. Spero and Mr. Clarke found new positions. On the other hand, this provided opportunities for other teachers. Please join me in welcoming the following new faculty members to our professional teaching community: Ms. Hyeryun(Angela) Koo - Math/Algebra, Mrs. Grace Cornacchia - Spanish, and Mr. Mel Joyner - 4th Grade(4J)

We also want to welcome back Mrs. Marguerite Glentz, who will once again teach Art. Mrs. Bontia, who is also certified in Science, will now be teaching Middle School Science.

Transfiguration Academy Tigers Celebrate Winning Basketball Season Excitement filled the air at Conlon Hall in Bergenfield this past week as Transfiguration Academy held its 8th annual sports award night acknowledging the athletic achievements of student athletes at the PreK3--8th grade school. The school offers a comprehensive program of extra-curricular sports including tennis, karate and cheerleading, but it is the basketball program that generates the strongest participation. More than 75 boys and girls in grades three thru eight comprised eight teams this year, competing in the competitive G4PSBL parochial school basketball league. Three teams garnered second place league trophies while both the girls and boys 5th/6th grade teams won first place championship trophies. The girls 5th/6th grade team had an undefeated season with 23 wins. Capping off the evening to thunderous applause was the retirement of graduating 8th grader Owen Roberts’ number in honor of his 2500+ points scored from 3rd thru 8th grades.
